We are James and Amy Greenwood, church-planting missionaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina. God has called us here to plant independent Baptist churches by evangelizing the lost with the Good News of the Gospel, discipling the saved, and training national pastors and leaders.
James graduated from Bob Jones University in 1998 with a BA in Bible and in 2002 with a MS in counseling. Amy graduated from Bob Jones University in 1998 with a BS in elementary education. The Lord called us each to missions while attending Bible college. In April 2002 we were appointed with Baptist World Mission. We began deputation in February 2003, after completing an internship at our sending church – Hillsdale Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. The Lord has blessed us with three lovely children – Jaden, Lauren, and Josiah.
We are currently planting a church in the city of Pilar – a city of 275,000 souls on the northwestern edge of Greater Buenos Aires. In August 2008, we began weekly Bible studies in the city center, which quickly grew to about 30 believers. In March 2009, we began holding Sunday services. With eight faithful married couples involved, this work is well on its way to becoming a church. However, it cannot become independent until God brings along a national permanent pastor. Please pray with us for God to raise up His man to shepherd this precious group of believers.
We are also working toward our long-term goal of evangelizing the upper class of Pilar, which make up about 65% of the city’s population. Through personal contacts in our neighborhood, our children’s extra-curricular activities, and English as a Second Language classes, God has given us unique opportunities to meet new people and witness to them.
