We are James and Amy Greenwood, church-planting missionaries in Buenos Aires, Argentina. God has called us here to plant independent Baptist churches by evangelizing the lost with the Good News of the Gospel, discipling the saved, and training national pastors and leaders. James graduated from Bob Jones University in 1998 with a BA in Bible and in 2002 with a MS in counseling. Amy graduated from the same university in 1998 with a BS in Elementary Education. The Lord called us each to missions while attending Bible college. In April 2002, we were appointed with Baptist World Mission. We began deputation in February 2003, after completing an internship at our sending church, Hillsdale Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida. The Lord has blessed us with three lovely children–Jaden, Lauren and Josiah.
During our first term, God impressed on our hearts the need to plant churches in and around the city of Pilar – a city of nearly 300,000 souls and no other fundamental gospel work. Pilar is situated on the northwestern edge of Greater Buenos Aires. In August 2008, we began weekly Bible studies in the city center of Pilar, which quickly grew to about 30 believers. In March 2009, we began holding Sunday services and the church kept growing! In March 2010, we held a "Charter Sunday," when we signed the church constitution and recognized the work as an official church. Besides evangelizing the lost, we are currently focusing on discipling and training nationals in our church body with the goal of mentoring one man to take over the pastorate of this work. At which point, we will repeat the church-planting process in another area of the Greater Buenos Aires.
