Lighthouse Baptist was started February 17, 2002. We have three services a week, Sunday morning and evening, as well as Bible study and prayer time in our home each week. The church meets in the local community center and hundreds of people are exposed to the fact that we meet there each week. We also participate with another missionary’s AWANA program and youth program each week. We support one missionary, Sammy Perez, in Malaga, Spain. We are a small work in Ipswich, the county seat for Suffolk County.
England, while speaking English, is totally different than the United States. They are more liberal in everything, and most people here do not want anything to do with God. They have become hardened to the Gospel.England is an island about 480 miles long and 250 miles wide, with a population of about 67 million, where more than 70% of the people have no desire to know God. At one time, England produced some of the greatest preachers and missionaries in the world. But today, England and all of the United Kingdom are in desperate need of fundamental missionaries. I personally know of less than 40 missionaries in England. Many people think England is just a small America, but that could not be farther from the truth. The British are a very private people, who do not take to strangers easily. One of the great difficulties in reaching people here is that they think that we are simply bringing American Christianity here. There are many Baptist churches here, but they have compromised in many areas, such as having women pastors, speaking in tongues, having combined services with the Church of England, the Catholic Church, and many other areas.
