By God’s grace, my family and I are praying about settling in Siliguri to assist a national pastor. This pastor in Indian has started a Bible institute and has a burden to plant churches in the northern sector of India. It is our desire to assist this pastor in training nationals for the work of church planting and to assist in Bible translation projects.
The country of India is home to over 1.25 billion people, making India the second most populated country in the world. Of the millions of the people, nearly 81% adheres to Hinduism; in fact, the very term for "Indian" in Hindi literally means the "land of the Hindus." The next 138 million (13.4% of the population) claims Islam. Only 2.3% claims Christianity in its broad sense, let alone actually adhering to a biblical faith in Christ alone. Being promoters of that which is good and peaceful, the people at large fail to see themselves as sinners in need of a Savior. They need the living Word of God to permeate their hearts and their culture. "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
