We are working with a small group of believers in Rimouski Baptist Church, Rimouski, Quebec. Our goal is to bring this work to fully independent status. We are a small group meeting in a community center basement (available to us only from 9-11:15 a.m.) on Sunday mornings for Sunday school and our Sunday worship service. On Sunday afternoon, we have a men’s Bible study and a ladies’ Bible study that both meet in the home of our deacon. Our Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer service also meets in a home.

Our teaching and preaching is focused on grounding the church family in sound Bible doctrine and giving them an understanding of the “whole counsel of God.” We use the Kids4Truth program as a means of teaching and training our young people.

Over the years, the church has been involved in a number of different outreach ministries including, but not limited to: door-to-door visitation, literature distribution (Bible portions, tracts, DVDs) and special outreach services.

We are working in the French Canadian province of Quebec. As recently as the 1990s, nearly 100% of Quebecers would have professed to being Roman Catholic. By 2011, this number dropped to only 75%. Today, the percentage is much lower and this is seen by the number of Catholic churches being closed throughout the province. The fastest-growing and largest “religious” group in Quebec (according to the 2011 Census report) is “No Religion” at 12%, followed by Islam at 3%.As noted above, many Quebecers will still claim to be Catholic if pushed for a religious preference. In reality, the majority have nothing to do with the church. The most common comment we receive when talking with Quebecers is, “If there is a God, and If there is a heaven, then I’m sure He will let me in.” Religion is seen as a crutch for the needy.The spiritual need in Quebec is great and the laborers are few. Pray the Lord will send workers into this needy harvest field.
