In March 2009, we assumed full responsibility for Iglesia Bautista De La Fe in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. Although this ministry had been planted many years ago, it was not until our first term (while we were working with Jim Stinedurf) that the church had its own building in which to meet and minister. As we continue to minister in Juan Diaz with this small group of believers, we look forward to not only providing adequate facilities for the future, but also teaching each believer how to be a part of the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12), so that they might be a part of seeing souls saved and continue to be a true lighthouse in Juana Diaz for generations to come.

Field Info
Puerto Rico is located approximately 1,000 miles southeast off the coast of Florida. It is 39 miles from the northern coast to the southern coast, and only 111 miles from east to west. Yet it has a population of over 3.8 million people. Puerto Rico has been documented as being one of the most densely-populated territories in the world. God has blessed Puerto Rico with picturesque displays of His creative power: the beautiful coast lines, El Yunque, (which is the only tropical rain forest on American soil), and the rolling mountains that cover the southern portion of the island all display His handiwork. In 1898, Spain lost the Spanish-American War and gave Puerto Rico to the United States. Roman Catholicism is the historic religion with a mixture of ancient ancestral worship and the practice of Spiritism. However, with American influence and gaining of religious freedom, Mormonism, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Pentecostal Movement, and other religions have had a great impact on the island’s religious practices. Current influences of sensuality, crime and drugs are leaving the younger generations without hope. Much of the future generation is being born into single-parent homes with parents still in their teens.
