I will be working with fellow Baptist World missionaries, Matt and Amanda Smith and their family, primarily in the city of Pasto, Colombia. However, we are seeking to evangelize and plant churches in the surrounding towns (there are a total of 66 cities in the department of Nariño), as well. My main ministries will be in the area of music, as well as working with women and children.
Called "the surprise city", Pasto is nestled in the Andes mountains and also located at the base of an active volcano (the Galeras volcano). The main religion is Catholicism and it is not unusual to see ornate Catholic churches while traveling through the mountains from town to town. The small towns or villages surrounding the city of Pasto are home to the indigenous "Pastusans." Farming is a large part of the culture and way of life.
