We are currently serving our first term in Lüchow, Lower Saxony, Germany, working with Aaron and Jennifer Peterson in Bibel Baptiste Gemeinde. Our focus is to gain mastery of the language while better learning the aspects of ministering in Germany. We plan to be a help in the children’s ministry, as well as aid with the outreach into the neighboring areas. In time, we believe God is leading us to begin a church in the northeastern region of Germany, as we are not aware of any missionaries or sound churches in that area.
In 2012, a report on religion in countries around the world led two newspapers to declare eastern Germany as "the most godless place on earth." With approximately 70% of the people embracing atheism and irreligion, the moniker seems well earned. The same report was unable to find anyone under the age of twenty-eight that was certain that God exist. The region is full of hard hearts, but God is still seeking laborers to go into His harvest in eastern Germany to break up the fallow ground and prepare it for the good seed.
