We were appointed by BWM in April 2013 and departed for the field in October 2015. We have ministered with Gedeon and Joli Olah in Nagykanizsa Hungary for the past three and a half years, helping them in many aspects of the ministry while studying the Hungarian language.
Hungary has been part of Christian Europe since 1,000 A.D., and has a long, diverse history. The largest influences on the country have been the 400 year Turkish occupation, the rule by the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and the land treaties following the two World wars. Hungary is a very independent country, although it is part of the European union. They were one of the first countries to throw off Soviet rule in 1989, and have a modern, capitalistic economy. The country is governed by a prime minister and parliament, which today are largely politically and socially conservative.
