MAPPER Testimonies

Encouragement from those who have served

“I had the opportunity to complete my college internship through the BWM Mapper program. I joined missionaries Jon and Micki Rehfeldt in Colonia, Uruguay, to assist with their digital media presence. I worked with Mrs. Rehfeldt on their seminary website and helped another missionary family create a missionary video. The Lord gave me direction for my life during this trip, and I am thankful for the opportunity to go to another country!”

Emma, Uruguay, South America

“The Mapper program was a very positive experience for us. We worked side by side with veteran missionaries for one year, gaining valuable experience with the language and culture. This experience helped us tremendously when we presented our ministry to churches while on deputation. The Mapper program also helped us to get to know Baptist World Mission and showed us that this mission board is a good fit for us.”

Matthew and Susanna, Ivory Coast, West Africa

“Being part of the Mapper program let me spend time in the country where I now serve, even before becoming a full-time missionary. God used that season to confirm His calling on my life, and it gave me the chance to experience what missionary life is really like.”

Joanna, Colombia, South America

“Our time in the Mappers program during our ten months in Côte d’Ivoire was incredibly valuable. Being part of the program gave us the credibility we needed to raise support quickly, allowing us to get to the field without delay. We loved serving alongside my brother Seth and his family, and deeply appreciated the chance to share life and ministry with them. The experience stretched us, taught us so much, and gave us opportunities to be involved in a wide range of meaningful ministry work. We’re grateful for how the Mappers program equipped and supported us throughout the entire journey.”

Stephen and Martha, Ivory Coast, West Africa

“During the summer of 2024, I interned as a BWM MAPPER in Quito, Ecuador, with the Mark Ackeret family for about 10 weeks. My partnership with BWM provided me with practical experience, including producing a prayer card, presenting my trip to several congregations, and writing monthly ministry update letters. This internship allowed me to truly understand what life is like on the mission field. I believe God used this experience to guide me toward my future, and it even opened the door for me to serve as a furlough replacement for the Ackeret family the following summer.”

Andrew, Ecuador, South America
